They do not work well with insurance.

The employees at SMP Pharmacy Solutions are very friendly and kind, and every interaction I had with staff was pleasant. Unfortunately, if you have TRICARE/Humana Military insurance, they really struggle to figure out how to correctly bill your coverage. Despite SMP Pharmacy having a contract with the military, there seemed to be a lack of understanding of how military insurance—specifically TRICARE routed through Humana—actually works. We spent a significant amount of time trying to resolve the issue. My provider decided to send the prescription to Freedom Pharmacy instead, but I figured I would try to call SMP Pharmacy a third time to see if the issue could still be resolved. During that call, I spoke with an employee who offered to contact TRICARE directly on my behalf. She told me she would call me back in about 15 minutes—and she did. She was able to resolve the issue with TRICARE, and it turned out the problem was on TRICARE’s end. Once that was sorted out, the claim was successfully processed and charged to my insurance. I’m grateful to that third employee for taking the initiative to call TRICARE directly and see the issue through. While I’m very relieved that everything was ultimately resolved, I do wish this step had been taken earlier—perhaps during my first call—rather than after roughly three hours spent on the phone with SMP Pharmacy over multiple days. Still, they did resolve the issue, and I want readers to know that. I’ve heard many positive things about SMP Pharmacy, and I’m hopeful that future experiences will reflect those expectations more smoothly from the start.

I have always had wonderful experiences with the SMP Pharmacy Maven representatives, especially as I’m currently going through an IVF cycle, which is already a very stressful and expensive process. However, today I encountered a representative named Kristina/Christina who spoke to me with a tone that felt very rude and dismissive. When I asked for clarification about my medications, her response made me feel as though I should “figure it out on my own,” which left me feeling very insecure during an already sensitive time. I asked to speak with another representative, and thankfully my questions were then properly addressed.

I’ve been using SMP throughout my fertility journey, and honestly only have the best things to say. I’ve been using them for 4 months now. I feel like they not only have reasonable pricing compared to other pharmacies, but their staff is truly so kind. When going through infertility, everything can feel so heavy and daunting… but each time I’ve spoken to their team, I’m met with kind, clear and compassionate care. Highly recommend!
